Quality Initiatives

Here are some of the ways the Quality Initiatives Team supports providers:

  • Responds to calls to the Warm Line
  • Offers providers the opportunity to participate in local quality initiatives that support children’s optimal progress in the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards
  • Supports providers in completing and following up on ASQ screenings
  • Offers and facilitates training to improve provider quality


Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards

The Office of Early Learning is pleased to share new resources on the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards website which may be accessed at

  • The Families tab is now live and includes family friendly information, tips and simple activities that can help parents support their child’s development.
  • The Standards tab now includes links in the lower left corner of many components. Those links will take you to video clips that will; help you recognize developmental stages and activity suggestions to help you support children’s progress.

The program sends police officers into preschool programs on a monthly basis with a multi-pronged mission to introduce children to positive interactions at an early age, grow a love for reading, and build social emotional and character skills.


Social Emotional Initiative

The significance of social emotional development is seen in every area of a child’s life. A child will have a strong foundation for later development if he or she can manage personal feelings, understand others’ feelings and needs, and interact positively with others.


Reading to children at an early age, helps them gain important skills that can provide them with the cornerstones needed for the development of later academic skills. This initiative sends community members into programs and provides books and materials to support early literacy.

STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Exposing children to STEM and giving them opportunities to explore STEM-related concepts, will encourage them to pursue careers in  STEM fields.


 Therapy Dog 

Ms. Tammy and her Therapy Dog George visit different programs with a presentation about safely interacting with a dog you don’t know and even more!


TS GOLD is an authentic, ongoing, observation-based assessment system that helps teachers and administrators like you focus on what matters most for children’s success.

Infant and Toddler Initiative

Early Intervention is the key to success for children who may have special needs or developmental delays.  This initiative helps teachers effectively observe and assess infants and toddlers development in order to support their developmental progress.

Best Practices in Inclusive Early Childhood Education (BPIECE) for Directors is a self-assessment tool that has been developed to identify director practices that can be used to support practitioners in creating a high quality early childhood environment that meets the needs of diverse learners and their families.
